71 Danish Staffing Agencies Folded in a Quarter
Over 90 days, 71 staffing agencies entered bankruptcy or compulsory dissolution. That is nearly 5% of Denmark's roughly 1,470 active staffing agencies in a single quarter. The rate for all businesses sits at about 0.5%, so the staffing sector is closing down at about nine times that pace.
The numbers
The 71 cases split into 54 bankruptcies and 17 compulsory dissolutions. The count rose from 13 in March to 24 in both April and May, and June has reached 10 so far. With about 1,470 active agencies, the quarter means roughly one in twenty staffing firms disappeared in three months.

What it means
Staffing feels a drop in demand before most other sectors. When order books thin out, companies end their temp contracts first, and agency revenue falls at once. That makes the sector an early gauge of the labour market.
It shows in the large agencies that survive, too. MOMENT A/S went from 7,199 to 5,053 employees on 23 May, a fall of 2,146. Carelink Gruppen A/S dropped from 7,826 to 5,902 over the spring and settled at 6,573. Both agencies are in normal operation, so the figures reflect fewer temps placed, not firms shutting down.

- Temporary staffing and other personnel supply, about 1,470 active firms
- MOMENT A/S, down 2,146 employees in May
- Carelink Gruppen A/S, swinging headcount over the spring
- 360 construction firms insolvent in 90 days, the same pattern in the building trades
Method
The counts cover firms with primary industry code 78.20.00 (temporary staffing and other personnel supply) whose register status changed to bankruptcy or compulsory dissolution within 90 days. The rate compares against agencies in normal operating status. Employee figures are each firm's most recently reported headcount and include placed temps. Deleted and anonymised records are excluded.
